  Why Calgary?
Calgary is a big city with wide range of job opportunities. In fact, it is a capital city of Canadian oil manufacturers, but oil is just a part of local industries. Geophysics, programmers, doctors, engineers are welcome here as well as mechanics, bakers, constructors etc.

Education: There are such institutes as Alberta University, SAIT, DEVRY, Mount Royal College, Bow Valley College and tens of others. According to statistic quality of education is one of the best in Canada.


Taxes: Calgary is in Alberta. It means NO PST [7% of all purchases] All other provinces charge PST as well as GST [another 7-11%]. Example: you are going to buy a computer for . In Toronto or Vancouver you'll pay +GST+PST =2000+140+140=. In Calgary: +GST =2000+140=. This is concerning to all purchases including bread and milk

Rent of apartment is significantly cheaper then in Toronto or Vancouver, but more expensive then in Saskatoon or Winnipeg.


Medical insurance is more flexible then in any other province. In fact, you can get it at the same day you arrived to Calgary [if it is not weekend]. It covers all basic needs and works in any other place in Canada and even abroad.

Entertainment: You will have big choice of places to go. Plus, Calgary is just one hour of driving from Banff, three hours from Edmonton etc. How about Stampede?

Climate is very dry. We have about 10-15% of humidity in the winter [but 50% in a summer time]. That is why you can see people walking without hats when thermometer shows -25. In a summer we have 20-25 degrees and a lot of sun shine. In Calgary you can survive cold much easier then in Winnipeg or Toronto.

A lot of people from inside Canada moved in Calgary last time for different reasons. Mainly, because Alberta offers high quality of life for the cheapest prise in Canada, not to mention the great job opportunities.
